The Northampton-based employee-owned firm is now predicting further steady growth across its three remaining operating divisions after offloading its maintenance operation BSM at the end of last year.
Turnover for year ending October 2024 jumped 28%, to a record £272m with a tripling of pre-tax profit to £3.3m.
All businesses delivered growth with Engineering Services turnover jumping 28% to £135m, generating a pre-tax profit of £1.8m, up from £1.3m the previous year.
Improved activity in the London residential market helped the Living business grow turnover nearly a fifth to £84m, alongside a £0.5m uplift in pre-tax profit to £0.8m.
Despite being impacted by the failure of main contractor Blenheim House, B&F’s Special Projects arm enjoyed a record year with turnover jumping three quarters to £29m delivering a £1m pre-tax profit.
Group finance director Jeremy Askew said that a £510m forward order book gave confidence about this year.
“London specifically has seen positive momentum over the past year with several high-profile large schemes being secured via improved procurement routes and profit margins, with more projects targeted.”
He added: “The post year-end sale of BSM, allows the business to concentrate on its core contracting activities while providing a boost of over £5m to net assets/balance sheet and a £6m cash injection, which strengthens the company’s financial position enabling investment where required and allowing us to seek greater support from banks, sureties and credit insurers.”
Net cash improved to £22m from £19m in 2023.
